Dr. Sushma Ratna Jayanna, MBBS, DNB (Ophth), FICO (UK), is an accomplished Vitreo-Retina and Pediatric Retina Surgeon at Narayana Nethralaya, Bengaluru. Her clinical expertise encompasses pediatric and adult retinal disorders, retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), advanced retinal imaging, and complex vitreoretinal surgeries, with a particular interest in managing challenging pediatric retinal and complex retinal surgeries.

Throughout her career, she has combined academic leadership with international clinical exposure. She previously served as Faculty In-charge of ROP Services at Shantilal Shanghvi Eye Institute, Mumbai, and as Retina Faculty at L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. Seeking to broaden her surgical expertise in advanced retinal care, she completed her observership in Pediatric and Complex Retinal Surgeries at Associate Retina Consultants, Beaumont Hospital, Michigan, USA.

Her global academic contributions further include serving as Retina Faculty at the Liberia Eye Center, John F. Kennedy Hospital, Monrovia, West Africa, and at Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital, Bhutan, strengthening retinal services and training programs in these regions.

Dr. Jayanna has published numerous original research articles and review papers on adult and pediatric vitreoretinal diseases. She has spoken at national and international conferences and has been a reviewer for international peer-reviewed journals.
