Dr. Rohit is a cornea-refractive surgeon and a clinician scientist with a keen interest in keratoconus and corneal ectatic disorders. He has been practicing high volume refractive surgery for 14 years now. Dr. Rohit Shetty completed his residency in ophthalmology at the St. Johns Medical College for the Diplomate of the National Board. Dr. Shetty obtained his FRCS Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom in 2006 and is currently an FRCS examiner. He is the Chief Mentor for the Dual Academic Program (PhD & Clinical Fellowship) at Narayana Nethralaya Eye Institute, Bangalore and Maastricht University.
Dr. Rohit has over 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals and is a reviewer for many indexed journals in the specialty. He is also on the editorial board of the Journal of Refractive surgery. Dr. Shetty’s work on pain management after photorefractive keratectomy, influence of stromal molecular markers on corneal ectasia and risk scoring systems to predict ectasia after refractive surgery has been well received. With a keen interest in imaging, some of his research includes, waveform analysis of deformation and deflection amplitude in keratoconus, influence of ocular spherical aberration on near and intermediate visual acuity in presbyopic eyes, biomechanics of LASIK Flap and SMILE Cap and corneal tomography in post-refractive surgery ectasia.
In the 2015 annual conference of the All India Ophthalmological Society, Dr. Rohit won the prestigious Col. Rangachari Award for the overall best paper of the conference for his work on “Is Inflammation Driving Keratoconus? A Holistic Study of Molecular Pathways”. The American Academy of Ophthalmology recently conferred an achievement award to Dr. Rohit Shetty for the distinguished services he has rendered over the years to the programs of the society. He was awarded the Casebeer Award for outstanding contribution to refractive surgery by the ISRS in 2019.

My wife got tPRK+CXL surgery on her right eye this month for Keratoconus treatment ... Her consecutive followups showed her eye healthy and healing well ... About our journey with the Keratoconus ... We consulted a doctor in small hospital in Blr 2 years ago( year 2018)and that doctor suggested for a "cornea transplant", which had scared whole of our family members ... On of my friends suggested Narayana Nethralaya ..So we consulted Dr.Rohit Shetty in Narayana Nethralaya ... After thorough tests (with latest equipment) it was proven that she had Keratoconus but not a severe one and it does not need a cornea transplantation.... We had yearly checkup with same Dr.. For two consecutive years it was stable...Third year it was becoming progressive so suggested for tPRK+CXL .... We have another checkup scheduled for next month... Over all the experience with the hospital staff was great ...I would recommend all the readers of this blog to not fall prey for immature doctors and do get. My experience with Narayana Nethralaya began with Cynthia Roy, their international coordinator. She was very helpful and kind to our entire family. From there, the process moved very quickly and efficiently as the competent staff performed many tests to determine if I was a good candidate for lasik surgery. After evaluating my results, Dr Rohit Shetty thoroughly explained the procedure that was most appropriate for me. I was excited to discover that the equipment used here is state of the art and allows them to perform more advanced corrections than current practice in my home country. I received very good care and while the full affects of the procedure can not yet be felt, I am confident that I will have near perfect vision after recovery. I am very pleased with the improvement even after less than 24 hours and am grateful for the individualized care I’ve received.

My name is srividya. I had approached Narayana netralaya for a LASIK operation. The first thing I liked about the hospital is that we are attended by a PR at the very entrance who will guide us to the right place. Then all the staff are curtuous and well organized. When the tests are conducted the technicians will explain what they are going to do, thereby we are mentally prepared and do not panic. The staff guide us from place to place personally and do not make the patients to search where to go for the next test. As such I was very nervous about the operation. Knowing this Dr Rohit shetty comforted me and filled me with courage in the operation theater. Overall it was a very efficient place well planned and good curtuous people who take good care of people who approach them I must say it was a cake walk for me to go through the entire process.

I visited narayana nethralaya for a lasik surgery. Initially i had apprehensions on surgery and side effects. However councillors ,doctors were really helpful to clear all the doubts. Supporting staff are really helpful, they track individuallly in every stage . Talking about my surgery i had got contura lasik surgery done by Dr Rohit Shetty. Surgery was absolutely painless and quick. I got my vision back to normal within hours after surgery. The next day itself was crystal clear eye sight with no pain nor burning. I thank Narayana nethralaya and over all staff . Overalll it was very fine experience. Waiting time was bit long on surgery day. Apart from that everything was well and good.

From the first appointment onwards it has always been a great service and caring from all employees, especially from Cynthia Roy and Dr. Rohit Shwtty. I have visited Narayana Nethralaya from a very long time. This time I was in India for a short duration and wanted to get done Lasik surgery within that timeframe. Dr.Rohit Shetty and his staff made the entire process very smooth. I would never think of any other place for my eye related issues. I am glad that my eyesight is completely corrected. All thanks to Dr.Rohit Shetty and his team. One suggestion would be to handle the pre-OT room much cleaner and less crowded. Also, it would be better if the surgery cost includes the initial drops that is required immediately after the surgery.

Hello all, I am bharath , I had visited the hospital for lasik eye surgery , dr. Rohit shetty was the doctor assigned to me. I would say I had got the best experience from all of the hospitals I had visited so far. Initially, they had conducted various tests to determine if I was eligible for lasik eye surgery that was an entire day's procedure after which, I was scheduled for lasik, the entire procedure took around 3 to 4 hours, the surgery took around 20 mins. The recovery time also was very fast. I have had best experience from narayana nethralaya so far.

My husband went through a Lasik surgery at NN. Dr. Rohit Shetty made him feel extremely comfortable and the process was smooth. They hand held you along the way. The procedure itself was filled with anxiety since it happened in all of 10 min. But it's day two and so far so good. They make it seem like a not so intensive process, however the after care is for as long as 8 months, which we were not exactly prepared for. All is all it was something we were looking forward to and glad we chose NN.

The staffs are also very cooperative and helpful and minimal waiting time was there. All the the precautions were taken carefully and the councillors were also very polite and helpful. I am Chandan . Narayan netralaya is very good hospital. The staffs are treated very well, Dr Rohit Shetty has done my surgery very well. After my surgery I can't believe that iam able to see clearly everything. For those who are planning for Lasik don't be afraid just go for Narayan Netralaya they treat you excellent. Now I am very happy that iam get free from glasses and contact lenses.

I chose this hospital for my Contoura lasik surgery in both eyes on 6th feb 2021 by Dr. Rohit Shetty. The overall experience was quite good. The hospital staff is very efficient and helpful. The procedure was quick and not at all painful. The doctor and the counselor were very patient and answered all our queries. I highly recommend the hospital and the doctor for similar procedures.

I had my LASIK done here on january 9th, 2020. It was a really great experience. The procedure hardly took 10 minutes and completely painless.
