Dr. Himanshu Matalia received his medical education from M. P. Shah Medical College Jamnagar. He did his fellowship in corneal surgeries at L. V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad and later served as a consultant in the same place. He also received training from the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University, USA. He is currently working at Narayana Nethralaya as a senior consultant in Cornea, Refractive Surgery & Ocular Surface Services. He heads the Stem Cell Research Laboratory of Narayana Nethralaya. His expertise includes Laser refractive surgeries, cataract surgeries, laser assisted corneal transplantation, management of corneal diseases and ocular surface reconstruction. He has published in various national and international journals and is a reviewer for many international journals. Apart from his academic involvements Dr. Himanshu is an active Rotarian too.

I have finally found my place for an ever lasting problem of mine. The hospital, the staff and their records are so well organised. Let me explain my journey. So I checked and read about Dr. Narendra KP initially and was very adamant on getting myself treated by him. So I have had a prolonged problem with my eye for over 1.5 years and then when doctor Narendra KP looked at my eye and clarified that he was not the right person for the problem I'm facing and asked me to meet Dr. Himanshu. And then the next day I got an appointment with Dr. Himanshu, I just feel so grateful to have finally met doctors as good as these two. Even though my issue was small to have someone finally tell what was wrong was so relieving. i really would love to appreciate the entire staff and Dr. Himanshu & Dr. Narendra KP. My mother has gone through the cataract surgery with doctor Himanshu Matalia. The treatment has been excellent with extensive tests and diagnosis. All processes were explained clearly. TPA worked flawlessly with preauthorization as well as timely approvals. So, we are satisfied with the treatment. Suggestion: OPD queues are huge and time consuming due to very high number of patients. The hospital should try to streamline the process – like having a specific slot for post surgery inspections and some other slots where detailed diagnosis is required. They could also increase manpower for eyes general checkup which is currently a bottleneck. On the other part surgery part is handled way better than other places. That’s the most important part for us.

Dr Himanshu P Matalia is a very well behaved doctor as well as performed excellent operation with his machines…… Really beyond my expectations..no words to explain. His OT assistant Madam performed her jobs before start of operation very nicely. All staffs of OPD 4 , Ward, Pre operative room, Desk Office, specially of Insurance desk are very friendly and performed their duty in a unbelievable manner…. And I must tell one thing about Dr Himanshu.. such a nice doctor .. very friendly .. healthy suggestions.. You can heal 30 % while talking to him only. Remaining he will take care during treatment. He is ready to listen all your concern with out any issue. We had both eyes cataract surgery for my mother and we can see the result with in 2 weeks . No unnecessary testing .. no extra burden . Cataract+/_Malyugin ring for right eye done….at first consultation treatment done by junior doctor Shurthi not explained properly and we faced a problem and later again for the drops not explained .later second consultation Dr.Himanshu given good suggestion and done surgery very well.we are now happy with the Dr advice and guidance in a proper way. Please take care of every patient issue in a proper way and guidance because it may leads to serious issue .. otherwise everything is good.thanks to Mrs.uma receptionist for helping me speaking with Dr and explain about condition that may have cause serious eye problem .. thank you so much madam.

Dr. Himanshu Matalia I was diagnosed with Keratoconus in both my eyes and was recommended to Dr Himanshu. He’s one of the best in the deptt. And his nature towards the patients is very familiar and comforting. I underwent WPRK+ACXL surgery in my right eye. Visited NN for my eye issue along with consultation to check eligibility for lasik as my power is high ..I consulted Dr Himanshu sir consultation went very smooth with appropriate explanation and he had patience to answer all my queries . Just that the consulting time is very long hours I came at 10.55am could finish my entire consultation by 3pm which is very long time. Other than that hospital is super good and organised .

Dr. Himanshu did well for the cataract operation…After almost 24 hours eyes are watering too much but we gave rating 5 because we do not know if this is normal. For narayana we had appointment at 9 but it’s 27 minutes and we are waiting to meet dr himanshu .. this will be the first checkup post operations…Hope eye watering is normal ans it will fix on it own with time.
