About
Dr. Chaitra Jayadev is a senior consultant and former head of the Department of Vitreoretina Services at Narayana Nethralaya Eye Institute, Bangalore. She trained at Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute. In addition to her clinical role, she is actively involved in editorial management, scientific publications, and translational research at her Institute and beyond. She has served the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology and the All India Ophthalmological Society in various capacities.
With a flair for research and scientific writing, Dr Jayadev has close to 200 PubMed-indexed articles on topics beyond her core interests. She completed her PhD in Pediatric Retinal Imaging at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. Dr. Chaitra did a program on Healthcare Leadership at Harvard Medical School and is a fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology at UCLA. She recently completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Law and Ethics from the National Law School, Bangalore. Dr Chaitra is an invited speaker at various national and international platforms and is the recipient of the prestigious Col. Rangachari, Rema Mohan, JM Pahwa, IJO Honor, and IJO Silver Awards.

I visited Narayan Nethralaya for one of my parent's eye procedures. Overall, we've had good experience with other than medical process - like billing, waiting for scanning etc. No hassle to the patient or attender. This was important as at the time of Covid, we felt safe whenever we visited the hospital and also it was done in effective manner. The hospital staff is courteous, everyone speaks in a respectable manner and are very helpful in general. Appreciate the conselor for explaining the cost and briefing us about surgeries etc. The insurance staff were also helping. But, make sure to sort insurance related things with your insurer atleast 3 days prior to the surgery/procedure. We were treated by Dr. Chaitra Jayadev, right from initial diagnosis to surgery for eye procedures related to Diabetic Retinopathy, we had a two month routine visit and procedures. She explained in detail about the condition, the best treatment was suggested for the condition, and followed up with us regularly. She is patient when explaining the condition to both patient and attender in English and in Kannada. We appreciate the clear and direct way of explaining the condition rather than medical whataboutery. Overall, satisfied with the service provided to us.

We are extremely happy with the ambience and the overall services offered at Narayana Nethralaya. Recently we visited the hospital for my mother’s Cataract surgery. Dr. Ravi Krishna, our consulting surgeon, is highly skilled and adept, puts patients at ease and explained us the complete procedure and carried out a flawless surgery. Our interactions with Dr. Jayashree, Dr. Keerthi Shetty and Dr. Chaithra Jayadeva have been excellent. Equally efficient and amicable are the support staff, the nurses in OT (Mary, Savitha), lab technicians, attenders helping with wheel chair support (Arun, Ravi, Venkatesh and many others) and the counsellors (Bhanushree, Shruthi, Saraswati). Special thanks to the Insurance Desk manager Mr Raghu and his team who got the insurance procedures done in a very quick manner. The hospital has maintained high levels of hygiene and safety wrt COVID-19 and we highly recommend this hospital to anyone needing eye treatment.

In Nov 2020, i consulted Dr.Chaitra Jayadev & after checkup was informed i have a minor hole/tear in Retina. She suggested a laser treatment for same , which i got it done here. Iam totally satisfied with the procedure & my experience at NNEH. My purpose of this review is to express my appreciation for Dr.Chaitra, who not only thoroughly checked my eyes, but patiently explained to me, what it is & advised laser barrage. Though i was initially worried, her calm words assured me i am at right place for the treatment. Not only Doctor's knowledge & skill, communication also matters. Had a follow-up checkup done this week & all fine. In addition to Dr.Chaitra Jayadev, i wish to thank the entire team for the excellent ambience & courteous service, right form the covid screening procedure at the entrance.
