She has been working in Narayana Nethralaya since the last 12 years. She is a consultant in the Cataract and Neuro-Ophthalmology department. Her special areas of interests are pupil, cranial nerve palsies, optic nerve pathologies, extra ocular movement disorders, and cataract refractive lens surgeries. She also is responsible for overseeing, managing and coordinating all activities required to achieve and maintain National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare providers [NABH].
She has presented various papers, posters, and videos in national and international conferences. She has also reviewed many articles for renowned journals.
Education & Training
She completed her basic medical education from K S Hegde Medical Academy, Derlakatte under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
She pursued her post graduation degree M.S Ophthalmology from A J Medical College, Mangalore.
She has done long term Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Phacoemulsification fellowship from Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore.

This place is generally called as NN-4, we visited here for my father’s cataract consultation and surgery. We didn’t have appointment initially, but they accommodated our consultation with Dr. Chaitra Aroor. Saturday’s are more busy and need prior appointment, else you have to wait for 3hours which includes initial checkups and Diagnosis. Sunday is half a day and you may have to come in early for quick consultation. Dr. Chaitra is so polite and caring. Took time to analyze the readings and she is aware of what’s she is upto. She does surgeries on Mondays and Wednesdays every week and there are 6 patients minimum on those days for cataract surgery. Dr. Chaitra did surgery for my father’s both eyes and it was clean without any complications. The support staff is also polite and does their job more sincerely. The insurance people especially Pavithra was so helpful and was eager to sort out all problems and she did solve one for me. We can trust this hospital and staffs. The cost is reasonable and no extra charges unlike other hospitals like “eye foundation(recommend not to go there, as they are money minded)”. Cons:- Counsuling staff can be more elaborative and explain patients with more care. Give more options to patients and should have patience to explain all questions. They were rushing in my case. But, I feel they are fine when compared with other hospitals. Pharmacy staff behaviour is comparitively rude than other support staffs in the hospital. This has to be changed. Bit far from city, due to metro construction traffic is generally worse in Bannergatta road. Overall very good experience with NN-4. Will recommend this NN-4 over any other eye hospitals in Bangalore.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Chaitra Aroor, and I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for the outstanding care I received throughout the entire process. My mother got operated on her right eye for cataract issue, operation went well, my mom had long sight and the power was 9.0, now she is able to see everything through her right eye, she is able to read and see small things. About doctors, we consulted Dr. Chaithra Aroor, she was so well spoken and addressed our issue very well, answered all our queries, explained everything in detail. A very good doc, thank you Dr. Chaithra mam. Operation was performed by Dr. Hemamalini, very good doctor, performed the surgery at ease, everything was normal within few hours, thank you Dr. Hemailini mam. About the hospital ambience, hospital is very good, clean and neat, well equipped. About the hospital staff, they are very gentle and humble, all are very professional, very satisfied. Special mention to counsellor Bhargavi, she is very good, she guided us across the operation really well. As of now a very good experience.. We are planning for left eye operation next week, will give detailed review of experience after that operation.
